The Comfort Zone...

beware the addicting lure
of the comfort zone
its sly seductive tentacles
reaching, grabbing, wrapping,
encasing and imprisoning….
one day you awaken
and find yourself sinking
stuck in the quicksand
that is the familiar
huddling there
settling for sameness
ignoring the beat of the drum within
oblivious to the trailing ties
of the floating dreams
you didn’t even know were cut loose.

i wrote this before we left on our trip to washington.  and i am still struggling with it.  my life here is so very comfortable….. yet i do feel the call within, the call of the wild.

i have been feeling it for a long time and for various reasons was not free to heed it.  the time has come now and we are moving forward.  stepping out toward the unknown, terrified and exhilarated at the same time.

  1. It is scary to start changing your life in such a big way. But I'm pretty sure it will be a good change, Patty!! There will be doubts, and questions, and fears - it's quite normal. I remember this so well before we moved to the US, we were questioning ourselves and our decision so often - and then we thought of this quote by Mark Twain (you probably know it): "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

  2. Thought of you today and here I am popping in to say Hi.
Whenever you are and heading to, I wish you well. Much love your way. x

I would love to hear from you!!
