there’s nothing like a giant sequoia tree to make you feel
small...
or standing at the edge of one of america’s most daunting
canyons (king’s canyon national park)...
or – one of my absolute favorite things to do when we are
lucky enough to find a remote forest
campsite - lying on my back on the
ground, snuggled in my cozy wearable blanket, watching the stars appear as
darkness falls....
as i was doing this last week, it hit me again – the
mystery and magnitude of it all – knowing that although i feel small and
infinitesimal, i have a light inside of me that is connected to the light of
those stars – that we are all in this together – the tree, the canyon, the
stars and, yes, me too! owning this... maybe i'm not so small after all... or, better yet, maybe my smallness is of very little importance....
i don't know quite why but your post reminds me of what Gandhi said: that whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it because nobody else will.
ReplyDeleteat times it can feel like our existence is quite small in the scheme of things but the synergy of all living things makes this world connected and whole!
(that tree is amazing!!!)
Kathryn, that is a great reminder - and that's exactly what I was trying to convey. Thank you!!
DeletePatty, such beautiful photos - again! I love King's Canyon as well, I had been there once in the winter and it was so beautiful and magical (no forest camping though...). A wonderful place!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carola! This was our second time there, but neither then nor now did we really have enough time to do it justice. It it such a huge place - especially with the 2 parks combined and the national forest. Hope to get up there again before too long....
DeleteOh My! Such an incredible place to be. I've never been there. Stunning, Patty. Yes, we are all one - everything interconnected. Such a wonderful 'knowing'. There is absolutely nothing like watching the stars appear in the evening sky. It's pure magic. hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Patty Waite. You feed my soul. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, my sweet friend. And you mine....
