well, it's kind of after-the-fact, but i just realized that with all that's going on i never posted about this cute little place that we visited right before my birthday. true to our "road-less-traveled" philosophy, we were looking for an interesting place that we hadn't seen, that was "off the beaten path" and not too far from home.
we were not disappointed. pretty much everyone around here knows about big bear lake and lake arrowhead up in the mountains, but hardly anyone has ever even heard of lake gregory or its accompanying town, crestline, which is not far from there.
we got a great deal on this sweet little cabin and stayed for just 2 nights. we walked around the lake, hiked in the forest and out to "heart rock", explored the area and found some cool thrift shops in town.
OoooOOoo ... looks like a splendid spot to celebrate your birthday. Thanks for showing me the inside of the cabin. I love places like that where you feel instantly at home. When we are taking a short break, there is no time to adjust yourself to your surroundings. Great photos Patty ... I adore your idea of stopping for an entire day or two to celebrate ... deliberately and consciously celebrate. I'm going to have to think about that and plan something! Thanks. As usual, I'm inspired by your wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend a birthday! I love the shots you've posted, all so pretty and interesting!
ReplyDeleteyou are so special dear Patty. These photos are stunning.
ReplyDeletei totally agree with you that birthdays are to be celebrated!! and although we live in a youth-obsessed society, we're all growing wiser!! so glad you had such a beautiful place to go to--
ReplyDeleteI have to remember this place, it looks fabulous. We love to discover new places that are off the beaten path. And I agree, it's nice to take a day off for your birthday. I am lucky that my birthday is always close to MLK weekend in January, so we almost always spend my birthday in the snow in Yosemite. I can't imagine any better way.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, your photos are beautiful!
