it arrived yesterday and i feel like christmas came early! it’s been 6 years since i purchased my first digital camera. i resisted the change at the time. i loved my fuji velvia slide film (there’s still some in my frig!) and i knew the digital cameras were continuing to get better and less expensive, but i finally took the plunge and life has not been the same since!
i started out with the canon 20d so i could still use the same lenses and this sweet little machine has been my constant companion for the past 6 years. i watched all the upgrades come and go….. 30d….40d…..50d…. then last year the 7d, with full hd video capability, arrived on the scene and i decided that that was the one for me. but other expenses took priority and it didn’t happen.
this year i started researching again and found that the new 60d might be just right – less expensive than the 7d with most of the same features. also just a tad lighter and with my heavy pack and lenses, every ounce counts! it’s a huge upgrade for me and i am so excited. it has super-fast continuous shooting, self-cleaning, 3 inch pop-out live viewer, 18 megapixels and hd video, but what i’m really enamored with is the low light capability.
i mean it actually auto-focused on this moon in complete darkness, something my 20d never could have done (what's with the moon going DOWN at 8pm anyway??) and i took the shot handheld (well, kind of propped on my deck) – not bad.
i took it with me on my walk this morning and had fun capturing a few shots in low early light.
i have yet to open the (323 page!) manual (yikes!). there is going to be a bit of a learning curve, but i'm up for the challenge!
I am SOOOoooo excited for you, Patty! Hours of endless entertainment while you work with your bliss. Look at that little Muffy! I just want to pick her up and give her a big cuddle. Is she totally well now? Looks pretty content. Enjoy the learning curve. That's half the fun isn't it ... figuring out just how creative you can be with this new addition to the family.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful new "toy", Patty. This is exciting! I was thinking of the 60D as well, and then I got the 7D (for the next five Christmasses, birthdays, mother's days...combined) and I'm over the moon. And I had the 20D before as well, and loved it! Happy playing!!!
