what if everyone on the planet
spent the first five waking moments
of each and every day
listening to the birds sing??
i mean really listening
with no distractions
no talking, no thinking, no planning,
no rehashing, no rehearsing the day
but just listening
and letting those sweet sounds
melt into their hearts
i'm convinced that that one small act
would make it a very different world.
because when you give attention
to something in this way
you don't forget it....
it comes back to you
when you need it
and we could all use a little more birdsong
in our lives....
Yes. I listen to the birds every morning, but I am usually half-way distracted thinking as I walk the pup. I'd like to be able to quiet my mind and just listen. Like a walking meditation with birdsong. Good idea!
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous post dear Patty.....so true.
ReplyDeletei remember when i was with my girls walking amongst the trail of 100 giants and i asked them to stop and just be still....listen....listen to all the sounds of nature around us. it was pretty cool and my youngest said that was her favorite part of our whole day!!!

ReplyDeletebeautiful post, beautiful pictures, and so true.
ReplyDeleteIn the yard outside my bedroom window, there is an old fishpond and a huge pine next to it. That pine harbors at least two families of birds, who love to use the fishpond's gradually sloping sides for drinking and baathing. I dont get to go out fron much, but wwhen I do I look for them. I do listen to them while lying in bed, but not with your beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteOh so true Patty. Those quiet moments with nature are so healing. A little bit of that every day adds up to a whole lot of contentment and happiness. Thank you again for sharing your wisdom and your beautiful photographs.
ReplyDeletepeace. beautiful post dear friend. thank you
ReplyDeleteHi Patty. This is my first visit to your lovely site. Thanks so much for stopping by earlier by way of Kolleen from HWS. Love her! Love her site!
ReplyDeleteJust finished reading your bio and browsing some of your posts. Stunning photography! Truly, your current bird series gave me such a beautiful feeling..as if I could actually reach out and touch their baby-heartbeats. Sensational captures. I would so love it if you would give me permission to paint one in oil.
Thanks for conveying your thoughts on the new photography idea my husband had recently. I'm so new at trying to represent my work..let alone trying to attach a face and personality behind it all. But I'm slowly learning the necessity.
I joined you today as a Follower. Your site is one I'd like to begin visiting. My spirit connected instantly to your work..and it will be a pleasure to return often.
Blessings, Joy & Tuesday Sunshine, Terri

I just adore those lines. I am going to try to take some moments just to listen. In fact as I sit here typing this I just noticed the birds chirping outside my window. I probably would not have listen closely enough if it wasn't for your prompt.
Thank you dear girl, thank you!
